Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology has organized a procession and seminar on the occasion of World IBD Day on Saturday.The seminar was organized by the Department of Children’s Gastroenterology at 11 am in the Children’s Department of the University. It is an Inflammatory bowel disease. Although the disease is not curable, it can be controlled with treatment.
Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Prof Dr Md Sharfuddin Ahmed said as Chief guest, there are very few people who do not have acidity. 99% of patients have acidity. At present people are taking gastric medicine like “murki murki”. So that the human acid is decreasing. Even if this disease is cured, other diseases are caused. At present, the pursuit of human food is not like before. We must go back to normal life.
“IBD can affect not only young and middle-aged people but also children, so there is a need to raise awareness about the disease,” he said. In this case, the media can play a major role. The general public will benefit if the information of these meetings and seminars is disseminated for awareness.
Earlier in the morning, a procession was organized at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on the occasion of the day. University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md. Sharfuddin Ahmed, Vice-Chancellor (Education) Prof AKM Mosharraf Hossain, Treasurer Professor. Mohammad Atiqur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Surgery Mohammad Hossain, Chairman of the Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology Prof Md Rokunuzzaman and other teachers, doctors, nurses and officials of the department participated at the parade.
