Four persons were arrested from Motijheel area

Since its inception as an elite force, the RAB has been working for crime identification, prevention, peace and public order to ensure the safety of all citizens of the country by upholding the rule of law. Since its inception, RAB has been playing a vital role in arresting various criminals. Since its inception, the RAB has been able to gain the confidence of the general public by arresting illegal arms and ammunition, extortionists, armed terrorists, murderers, snatchers, kidnappers and fraudsters. In addition, the RAB has been able to gain the trust of the people at all levels by bringing a number of well-known fraudulent organizations under the law in recent times.

In recent times, RAB-3 and NSI, based on intelligence reports, have come to know that members of a class of unscrupulous gangs have been selling counterfeit judicial stamps, non-judicial stamps, revenue stamps to the general public in the Motijheel area of ​​the capital for a long time.

Following this, on Friday a joint operation team of RAB-3 and NSI conducted an operation in Motijheel area of ​​the capital and arrested Farman Ali Sarkar (60) Md. Tuhin Khan (32) and (4) Md. Russell (40).

The total revenue stamp is 38200 which is worth Tk. 9,38,520. The total value of all the stamps recovered was Tk. 19,03,520. Besides, 5000 cartridge papers, 01 monitor, 01 CPU, 01 printer and cash of Tk 8,86,460 were recovered. Preliminary inquiries revealed that they had been collecting counterfeit judicial stamps, non-judicial stamps, revenue stamps and selling them fraudulently for a long time. He could not provide any documents and satisfactory reply regarding all the stamps recovered from their custody. Although Farman Ali Sarkar, the ringleader of the scam, introduced himself as a vendor, he failed to show an accurate account of all the stamps he received in his register. He is involved in a heinous crime of fraudulently creating or collecting stamps in his possession through collusion through a syndicate and selling them as genuine through fraud. The paper and printing of the seized stamps were incorrect and no holes were found and no adhesive coating was found on the back. The security of the stamp does not appear to be characteristic. They also failed to present any treasury invoices. Arrested Md. Tuhin Khan and Md. Russell have been selling illegal counterfeit stamps in mobile shops at various places in Motijheel through fraud in the hope of financial gain. They have been involved in this fraud and forgery for almost 3/4 years. It is to be noted that there is a provision to collect all the stamps from The Security Printing Corporation Bangladesh Limited Gazipur.

The arrested Farman Ali Sarkar is the ringleader of the team. He passed his degree from Kurigram Government Degree College. Farman Ali Sarkar has been involved in the business of stamp vendor since 1993 and has been working till date. CID has already filed a case against Farman Ali Sarkar for the same act in respect of which he was detained and remanded in custody. He is currently on bail and is appearing in the case.

The arrested Md. Tuhin Khan studied from Shanir Akhra Madrasa up to 8th standard. He has been selling illegal counterfeit stamps in various mobile shops in Motijheel through fraud in the hope of financial gain. He has been involved in this fraud and forgery for almost 3/4 years.

The arrested Md. Ashraful Islam has passed HSC from Putikata Sindurmati College. He used to work for Grameenphone. Has been working as Farman’s collaborator for the last 2 years.

Arrested Md. Russell has passed SSC from Konapara Secondary School. He has been selling illegal counterfeit stamps in various mobile shops in Motijheel through fraud in the hope of financial gain. He has been involved in this fraud and forgery for almost 3/4 years. In the name of Russell, there are 01 Arms Act of 2012 and 01 kidnapping case in Paltan Police Station of the capital. Legal action is being taken against the arrested accused.
