On Friday evening, five to six vagabonds entered the institute and harassed the female students. Protesting this the aggrieved students staged a blockade on Saturday noon on the campus. The students lifted the blockade at noon after the authorities agreed to the seven-point demand and promised to take necessary action. The students also said that if the necessary steps are not taken within two working days, they will reschedule their demands.

The seven-point demand given by the students is to ban outsiders from entering the campus, ensuring the safety of students, stop eve-teasing, bringing the culprits under the law by confirming their identities by watching CCTV footage, ensuring the safety of campus guards, increasing the security of student hostels and ensuring the safety of students coming from outside the campus.

Shahid Abdur Rob Serniabat Textile Institute Principal Engineer Md. Humayun Kabir told this correspondent that all the demands of the students have been accepted and they have withdrawn their programme. Necessary steps will be taken in this regard soon.
