Joy hits maiden ton against South Africa

Mahmudul Hasan Joy became the first Bangladeshi player to make a hundred against South Africa. He reached the magic figure off 269 balls taking a double off Maharaj in the fifth ball of the 97th over of the innings. Mominul Haque’s 77 in Potchefstroom back in 2017 was the previous highest by a Bangladeshi batter against the Proteas in Tests. Joy got his Maiden century in an away series in challenging conditions like South Africa. He struck 10 fours and a six to reach the milestone.

Till this report, Bangladesh were 236/7, Joy 100 off 276, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz 11 off 42 were in the batting. Earlier, starting with the overnight score off 98/4, Bangladesh lost night-watchman Taskin Ahmed (1) adding only 3 runs. Wicket-keeper Liton Das and overnight batter Mahmudul Hasan Joy went to lunch remained not out. Bangladesh reached 183-5 at lunch. After the lunch break, Liton Das (41) and Yasir Ali 22 got out leaving Bangladesh under pressure.
