A seven-day long book fair was inaugurated at Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin park in the town today on the occasion of the golden jubilee of Independence. Educationist Jatin Sarker inaugurated the fair by cutting a ribbon in a function this morning.
Chief Executive Engineer of Mymensingh City Corporation Md Yusuf Ali in the chair the function was addressed, among others, by Divisional Commissioner Md Shafiqur Reza Biswas, Police Super Ahmar Uzzaman, journalist Babul Hossain, publisher Abdur Rab Mosharrof and Rajib Kumar Sarker.
Speakers in the function said there is no alternative to reading books for creating enlightened persons in the society. They also said a book can build one’s personality.
A total of 37 publication institutions took part the fair that will open 3 pm every day and will continue till 8 pm.
