August 5 is a day of both glory and sorrow in Bangladesh’s democratic history. It is not just a date—it is a chronicle of resistance written in the blood of countless martyrs. That blood cannot be in vain—this vow still resonates today as people continue to demand freedom and democracy with unwavering resolve. The months of July and August are marked in Bangladesh’s history as times of anguish and resistance. In 2018, these months bore witness to a terrifying wave of enforced disappearances, killings, torture, and oppression. In the face of state-sponsored terror and repression, thousands of ordinary citizens, students, youth, and working people took to the streets in solidarity. The ultimate sacrifice of those who bled in protest sowed the very seeds of today’s democratic spirit.

On this day, Mostafa Jaglul Pasha Papel, former Member Secretary of the Dhaka Metropolitan North Jubo Dal (Youth Wing), paid deep tribute to the martyrs and said:

"The blood of the martyrs of August 5 cannot go in vain. The mass uprising they sparked was a unique chapter in our people's struggle for freedom. We will honor that sacrifice and continue the fight.”

He further stated:

"July and August were not only dark times of state repression but also the moments that lit the torch of resistance. The time has come once again to unite—to take to the field to fulfill the dreams of the martyrs.”

Papel affirmed that the blood spilled must serve as a proud lesson for future generations. He emphasized the need for history to record that injustice was never accepted on this soil. The message of August 5 continues to give us courage in our national journey toward establishing democracy and human rights. This day, built on the ultimate sacrifices of the martyrs, will remain eternally memorable in the political and social history of Bangladesh.

Development activities at the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) have been significantly disrupted following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5 last year. Progress on key infrastructure and river management projects has slowed, with officials reportedly working in an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty due to a wave of allegations and political accusations, according to a UNB report. Since the political changeover, BIWTA has not undertaken any new development initiatives. Even the 12 ongoing projects — many of which are critical for maintaining river navigability and improving infrastructure — are advancing at a sluggish pace, insiders have revealed.

Officials allege that a vested group is targeting BIWTA employees by falsely accusing them of links to the Awami League. These individuals are reportedly demanding unethical favors, and when denied, they retaliate by filing complaints with various ministries, departments, intelligence agencies, and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). These unverified accusations are frequently picked up by media outlets and published as facts, creating confusion and damaging morale within the organization, say BIWTA insiders. Key ongoing projects include extensive dredging to protect and restore river channels. Among the affected rivers are the Brahmaputra and Jhinai in Jamalpur, the Dharla in Kurigram, the Tolai and Punorbhaba in Dinajpur, the Banshi in Tangail, the Ghaghot in Gaibandha, the Nagda in Gazipur, and several rivers in Mithamoin upazila of Kishoreganj.

Other major undertakings involve the construction of a circular walkway around Dhaka city, the installation of demarcation pillars to protect river boundaries, and the procurement of 35 new dredgers. However, the dredger procurement process is also reportedly facing delays. “We are working in line with government directives to ensure proper implementation and timely completion of our ongoing projects,” said Saidur Rahman, Additional Chief Engineer at BIWTA. “But a vested quarter is spreading misinformation and trying to intimidate officials by falsely associating them with the Awami League to gain undue advantages. This is seriously affecting the pace of our work,” he added.

Rahman urged media outlets to verify information before publishing. “We believe in transparency. If the media contacts us directly, we can clarify and provide accurate facts. This would prevent misunderstandings and help maintain staff morale,” he said. AKM Arif Uddin, General Secretary of the BIWTA Officers Association, echoed similar concerns and emphasized the need for responsible journalism to boost staff confidence and ensure the successful delivery of vital public projects.

A strong resistance has emerged against drugs, terrorism, and extortion—led by none other than Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sajjad Roman of Mirpur Model Police Station. Through a strict stance, tireless operations, and people-friendly policing, he has become a nightmare for criminals and a symbol of trust for the general public. Since assuming responsibility for ensuring the safety of the people of Mirpur, OC Sajjad Roman has brought about visible changes in the area. Through a series of operations, he has arrested numerous identified terrorists, drug dealers, and extortionists. Recently, he proved once again that no criminal, no matter how influential, is above the law by arresting a student leader along with three others in an extortion case in the West Monipur area.

At one time, various residential hotels in Mirpur had become hubs of immoral activities. Due to regular raids under OC Roman’s leadership, discipline has returned to these hotels, and immoral activities have now almost ceased. He has not hesitated to take legal action even against extortionists known to be close to influential political leaders. This has brought relief to the local people, and his impartial and honest role has been widely praised. OC Sajjad Roman is not only strict but also empathetic. Visitors to the police station no longer feel fear or hesitation. He has instructed officers to assist the public at every step—from filing complaints to the legal process. This example of people-friendly policing has brought positive change to Mirpur. Locals say, "After the July-August movement, under the leadership of a brave and honest officer like OC Sajjad Roman, Mirpur is now much safer. Criminals tremble at the mere mention of the police station." In truth, OC Sajjad Roman has become a beacon of hope for the residents of Mirpur and a dreaded name for the world of crime.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Md. Sohag Mia, Deputy Director (Administration) of the Capital Development Authority (RAJUK), and his wife Wazefu Tabassum Oishi on charges of acquiring illegal wealth. According to the case statement filed by the ACC, Wazefu Tabassum Oishi declared savings certificates worth a total of BDT 6,311,222 in the wealth statement she submitted to the Commission on March 19, 2024. She claimed that the money was received from her father, Md. Wazed Ali. However, the investigation revealed that Wazed Ali is a retired government employee. He served as a foreman at the Central Cattle Breeding and Dairy Farm and received a total of BDT 2,794,451 from provident fund and pension benefits upon retirement. There is no financial or written evidence to support that he donated, loaned, or gifted any part of this amount to his daughter.

Additionally, there is no record of any property being transferred from Oishi’s elder brother, Wahedus Saba Mithun. The ACC’s investigation further found that Wazefu Tabassum Oishi is a housewife with no independent source of income. Although she obtained a tax identification number (TIN) in 2022, she has not yet submitted any income tax returns. Based on the collected information and documents, the ACC believes that Sohag Mia and his wife colluded to acquire illegal wealth and attempted to legitimize it. For these reasons, a case has been filed against them under Section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004 and Section 109 of the Penal Code.

Pallabi police have arrested Russell, the prime suspect in the murder of the infamous drug dealer and juvenile gang leader Rakibul Hasan Sani, also known as ‘Paper Sani’. Russell had long been accused of involvement in drug trafficking, terrorism, and gang-related violence. A special law enforcement team apprehended him during a late-night raid on Monday, acting on a tip-off. According to police, Russell has partially confessed to his involvement in the murder during preliminary interrogation. Based on information provided by him, raids are ongoing to capture other suspects. Drug Turf War Behind Paper Sani’s Murder

On the morning of June 10, the body of Paper Sani (25) was discovered in front of a mosque in Block B, Section-11 of Pallabi, Dhaka. His hands were handcuffed, feet tied with a cloth, and his throat was slit. Upon receiving the report, Pallabi police recovered the body. From Newspaper Vendor to Gang Leader Rakibul Hasan Sani earned the nickname ‘Paper Sani’ during his time as a street newspaper vendor. However, he later became involved in drug dealing and led a juvenile gang. He had five drug-related cases filed against him in various police stations, including Pallabi and Mirpur.

Premeditated Murder Sani’s mother, Rozina Begum, stated that he had come to visit Mirpur with his wife and child during the Eid holidays. On the night of June 9, the prime accused Langra Rubel and his associates called Sani and lured him out. He went missing that night, and the next morning, his body was found. She alleged, “My son was driven around in a microbus, had his hands and feet tied, and was brutally murdered by having his throat slit with a sharp weapon. All of the killers are known local drug dealers.”

Accused in the Murder Case

The murder case filed with Pallabi Police Station names the following individuals:
• Russell (arrested)
• Rubel alias Langra Rubel (35)
• Boma Kallu (34)
• Swapon (22)
• Associates: Jinda (23), Taan Akash (24)

All of them are listed by police as drug dealers and criminals.

History of Violence and Gang Rivalry In March of last year, a youth named Faisal — a member of Paper Sani’s group — was killed in a turf war involving drugs and gang rivalry. He was murdered by the rival Rabbi group, and footage of the attack went viral on social media. Since then, despite going underground, Sani had continued operating his drug business. Speaking to The Daily Tribunal, Officer-in-Charge of Pallabi Police Station, Shafiul Alam, confirmed that Rozina Begum, mother of the deceased, filed a murder case naming several suspects. Among them, the main accused Russell has been arrested, and operations are ongoing to apprehend the rest.

Rafiqul Islam Jinnah, Senior Joint General Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan West Chhatra Dal and former President of Darussalam Thana Chhatra Dal, has strongly protested and condemned the baseless and intentionally misleading false news being circulated on social media involving his name. Rafiqul Islam Jinnah stated, “The individual named Kamrul with whom my name is being falsely associated—I don’t even know him. Kamrul is the General Secretary of Ward No. 10 Krishak League. I had no prior acquaintance with him. He was reportedly planning sabotage in the area at different times. Some concerned youths in our neighborhood questioned him about these activities. During that interrogation, he denied organizing any rally on the Aminbazar Bridge. However, locals checked his mobile phone and discovered his links with various Awami League groups and his participation in multiple conversations related to sabotage.”

He added, “Local residents asked Kamrul why he, being an Awami League member, was involved in such destructive plans. At that point, he started making false accusations against BNP leaders. Eventually, he alleged that my people demanded a bribe of 20,000 taka from him—an entirely fabricated and baseless claim. Even his father personally came to me and stated that although Kamrul was previously involved with the Awami League, he no longer wishes to be a part of it.” It was further revealed that Kamrul is currently working at a gas cylinder shop in the Trollerbag area, which reportedly lacks any fire service approval. Local residents have expressed concern over this matter. Rafiqul Islam Jinnah emphasized, “This smear campaign is aimed at undermining me and the BNP's political standing. While some senior leaders remain inactive after August, a few minor operatives continue plotting sabotage on the ground. My colleagues and I remain vocal against such malicious efforts.”

Other leaders of Chhatra Dal have also expressed their outrage over the incident. Omar Faruk Shakil, Joint Convener of the Darussalam Thana unit of Dhaka Metropolitan West Chhatra Dal, also alleged that false accusations have been made against him. He said, “This fictitious and fabricated narrative is being spread to tarnish my political image and reputation. It’s a calculated political attack.” Chhatra Dal activists stated, “Rafiqul Islam Jinnah is not a leader made in a day. He stood by the party during tough times, continues to do so, and will remain so in the future. A dedicated leader cannot be defeated. The torch always overcomes the darkness.” This rebuttal is a clear and detailed response by Rafiqul Islam Jinnah, made publicly to counter falsehoods and expose the conspirators. It reflects a firm stance from the BNP and Chhatra Dal against political conspiracies, based on facts—not rumors.

A series of makeshift shops has emerged along the footpath in front of the Chinese restaurant in Mirpur-1. From plastic utensils to sandals, clothes, handbags, and more — various goods are being sold occupying the entire footpath and parts of the road, severely hampering pedestrian movement.

Locals have complained that the footpath has been taken over by vendors, making it nearly impossible to walk through. As a result, many pedestrians are forced to walk on the main road, increasing the risk of accidents. The situation is particularly dangerous for children and the elderly.

One local pedestrian stated, “I use this road daily to get to work. Because of these stalls, it's extremely difficult to walk. Sometimes I even bump into rickshaws or cars.”

Notably, setting up shops on footpaths is legally punishable, but due to a lack of enforcement, the number of such encroachments continues to rise. Allegations of extortion from vendors by certain parties have also surfaced.

Concerned citizens are urging the authorities to take immediate action. The footpath is a public space meant for pedestrians — occupying it for commercial purposes amounts to a violation of basic public rights.

To make land management fully digital and automated, the government is set to implement a new initiative starting July this year. As part of this initiative, citizens will be able to access 17 land-related services from the comfort of their homes. Furthermore, multiple documents will no longer be required to prove land ownership—one single “Land Ownership Certificate” will be sufficient.

According to the Ministry of Land, the project titled “Land Management Automation” is nearing completion. Under this project, 17 digital services are being introduced, including:

e-Mutation

Review and appeal case management

Online land development tax

Rent certificate cases

Mutated records of rights (Khatiyan)

Digital land records

Mouza map delivery

Miscellaneous case management

Khas land management

Civil case data

Hat-bazaar and waterbody management

Sand and tea garden management

Vested property management

Land acquisition

Internal budgeting, etc.

These services will be integrated into a single interoperable database under a software framework called “Land Information Service Framework”, enabling synchronization with other government services. Additionally, the government is planning to introduce a “Land Smart Card”, which will carry the verified identity of the actual landowner. With this card, there will be no need to present traditional documents to prove ownership. Provisions for this initiative were included in the “Land Ownership and Usage Act, 2023”, though it is yet to be enforced. Sources from the Ministry of Land stated that a revised procurement plan has been approved for the 2024–25 fiscal year with a budget of Tk 915.9 crore. The software and necessary hardware will be provided to 5,247 land offices across the country, and relevant personnel will receive training. These decisions were finalized at the 16th meeting of the project, chaired by Additional Secretary (Development) of the Ministry of Land, Md. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Planning has also confirmed that both the Land Management Automation Project and the Digital Survey Project will be completed by June 30.

Additional Secretary Emdadul Haque Chowdhury said,

> “The government is giving special importance to four areas—online mutation, online records of rights (Porcha), online maps, and online land certificates. These services will be fully launched across the country starting in July. We are also working to integrate them with other government institutions to make the system more citizen-friendly.”

Stakeholders believe that the implementation of this project will usher in a new era in the country’s land services.

A special operational team of RAB-4 conducted a raid on the night of June 17 in the Manikganj Sadar police station area and arrested Md. Robijul Islam (35), a fugitive sentenced to life imprisonment in a narcotics case. According to RAB, since its inception, the Rapid Action Battalion has played a vital role in curbing crimes like terrorism, extortion, drug trafficking, and other major offenses under the motto "Bangladesh My Pride." As part of its continued efforts, RAB-4 successfully apprehended the convicted drug dealer using intelligence surveillance and modern technology.

During the initial interrogation, the accused confessed to being involved in large-scale drug trafficking for several years. He allegedly procured illegal drugs such as cannabis, heroin, yaba tablets, and phensedyl from border districts including Cox’s Bazar and Teknaf and sold them in Dhaka and other regions. On April 15, 2021, Manikganj Sadar Police arrested him with a large consignment of narcotics. A case was filed under the Narcotics Control Act 2018 (Case No. 15(4)21, GR-125/21, Section 36(1) 8(g)).

After being released on bail during the trial, the accused went into hiding and remained a fugitive for nearly four years by frequently changing locations and disguising his identity. Eventually, the court sentenced him to life imprisonment and issued an arrest warrant against him. Acting on this warrant, RAB-4 initiated a shadow investigation and successfully located and captured the fugitive with the help of intelligence and technology. The arrested convict has been handed over to the concerned police station for further legal proceedings.

Sazzadul Miraj, Member Secretary of the North Metropolitan Jubo Dal, delivered a speech as the chief guest at the Eid reunion organized by the residents of BCIC and Boxnagar. In his remarks, he strongly criticized the current political situation and alleged corruption in the country. “In just nine months, this nation has witnessed allegations of corruption worth thousands of crores of taka. And now they claim they want to run the country again. This is nothing short of a mockery with the people,” said Miraj.

He further stated, “My leader, Mr. Tarique Rahman’s agenda was to restore people’s right to vote and reestablish democracy. For the past 16 years, we have endured oppression and persecution on the streets to achieve that goal. We have brought this authoritarian Hasina regime to the brink of downfall.” Miraj also alleged that during this movement, many party activists were abducted, murdered, and became victims of extrajudicial killings. He claimed that over 6 million activists have been falsely implicated in politically motivated cases. The event was attended by local leaders and prominent residents of the area. Alongside political discussions, the Eid reunion featured cultural performances and community engagement.

Ahead of the 2025 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations, the Dhaka Education Board has issued urgent instructions to ensure the security of question papers. On Sunday, June 15, two official orders were issued, signed by the Board’s Exam Controller, Professor S.M. Kamal Uddin Hayder. The office orders instruct center secretaries to ensure the security, timely delivery, and correct set of question papers. Additionally, it was stated that question papers sent from BG Press for the 2025 HSC exams must be verified in accordance with the prescribed statement. Any discrepancies in the number of sets — either excess or shortage — must be reported to the Board via email by June 19.

Another office order mentions that the written answer scripts of the 2025 HSC examination must be submitted to the Exam Controller’s office on the same day of the exam. The center in-charge must personally hand them over or send them through an authorized teacher under police escort, ensuring safe custody.

If in-person delivery is not possible, the answer scripts must be sent on the same day via railway parcel with the time clearly mentioned. If neither option is possible, then the sealed bags/packets/boxes containing the answer scripts must be stored in the treasury or local police station custody. These must later be retrieved, with a certificate from the respective authority, and submitted without breaking the seal, under police escort, either by the in-charge or an authorized teacher directly to the Exam Controller’s office.

Under no circumstances can the written answer scripts be sent using any other method. Note: The 2025 HSC and equivalent examinations will commence on June 26. The theoretical exams will continue until August 10, and the practical exams will be held from August 11 to August 24.

Residents and pedestrians in the Diabari area of Mirpur are experiencing severe suffering due to a large pile of garbage that has been accumulating for days in front of the local raw market. Rotten vegetables, fruits, and other waste dumped alongside the main road are obstructing vehicle movement and making it difficult for people to walk due to the unbearable stench.

As seen in the image, a large portion of the roadside is covered with market waste. Due to poor waste management, the garbage is spreading onto the road, creating obstacles for both vehicles and rickshaws. Locals complain that they are forced to endure the foul smell and associated health hazards from morning till night.

A local resident said, "Thousands of people use this road every day. But garbage is dumped here in such a way that it seems no one is concerned. The City Corporation is taking no initiative." Shopkeepers stated that despite repeated complaints, the Dhaka North City Corporation has yet to take any effective action. During the monsoon season, the waste spreads further with the rainwater, posing serious threats to the environment and public health. Local residents are urgently calling on the authorities to immediately remove the garbage pile and ensure regular cleanliness efforts in the area.

Dhaka: In a significant move to curb land-related fraud, forgery, and illegal occupation across the country, the government has implemented new regulations. Under these rules, if land fraud is proven, strict administrative and legal actions will be taken against the accused. Lawyer Siraj Pramanik stated, “According to Section 6(1) of the new regulations, if anyone is found to have forged or fraudulently prepared land deeds and it is proven in court, the court will send a copy of the judgment to the concerned Deputy Commissioner and Registrar.”

He further added, “If the concerned authorities find the allegation of fraud credible, the accused will be served a show-cause notice.” To prevent illegal occupation, Section 7 of the regulations states that if there is an attempt to evict an illegal occupier or prevent them from entering the land through legal means and resistance arises, the aggrieved party may apply to the designated Executive Magistrate for preventive action. Stakeholders have expressed hope that the enforcement of these regulations will significantly reduce land disputes, fraud, and illegal possession. It is also expected to enhance legal security and promote justice for the general public.

Dhaka, Saturday, 14 June 2025: The Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (RAJUK), Engineer Md. Riazul Islam, visited the Hatirjheel area under RAJUK’s jurisdiction to assess necessary actions for biodiversity conservation, greening, and water purification initiatives. During the visit, the RAJUK Chairman held consultations with officials involved in the project and reviewed several important issues. Notably, one major decision was to remove the connecting road to the island located within the Hatirjheel lake. The goal is to develop the island as a biodiversity-friendly zone and to restore the natural water flow of the lake. It was also decided to implement additional tree plantation measures on the island as part of the environmental greening effort.

To enhance water purification in Hatirjheel, the Chairman instructed that short-term, medium-term, and long-term action plans be developed and implemented. “To transform Hatirjheel into an environmentally sustainable and modern urban project, timely and well-planned initiatives are essential,” he stated. Another key outcome of the visit was the decision to form a technical team comprising project-related stakeholders. The team will assess the necessity and feasibility of maintenance and repair works for roads, footpaths, walkways, greenery, lighting, and various electrical and mechanical installations in the Hatirjheel area.

Additionally, to provide visitors with a clear understanding of the project, it was decided that a ‘Hatirjheel Corner’ and an informative library will be set up on the ground floor of the Hatirjheel Management Building. Among those present during the visit were RAJUK Member (Development) Mr. Md. Harun-or-Rashid, Deputy Managing Director (O&M) of Dhaka WASA Engineer A.K.M. Shahid Uddin, Architect Iqbal Habib, Director of Vitti Sthapati Brindo Ltd., Superintending Engineer (Public Circle-1) of RAJUK, Executive Engineer (Head Office), and other concerned officials. RAJUK’s ongoing initiatives are being viewed as landmark steps towards sustainable urban environmental management.

The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) office in Mirpur has become a hotbed of corruption, where harassment, bribery, and an entrenched broker syndicate dominate daily operations.
Rules Alone Aren’t Enough

Frustrated service seekers report that even when all requirements are met, files often go “missing,” necessitating resubmission and additional, under-the-table payments.
Though the official timeline for obtaining a driving license is up to three months, brokers can deliver it within days. This expedited process, however, comes with a hefty price tag. Those opting to work with brokers are spared delays and harassment—raising serious concerns about internal collusion. Numerous reports suggest that these brokers have direct links with insiders at the BRTA office.

Broker Presence Overwhelms the Office

From the moment visitors step inside the BRTA premises, brokers are everywhere. They aggressively approach newcomers—especially first-time applicants or those visibly confused—offering “help” that often comes with a bribe. An investigation reveals that many of these individuals maintain close relationships with specific BRTA officials.

Political Protection Fuels Impunity

According to one BRTA official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, “We want to operate strictly by the book, but the brokers often enjoy political backing, which makes it hard to take action against them.”
Digital Services, But Corruption Remains

While BRTA has introduced digital platforms intended to streamline processes and reduce manual interference, corruption still thrives. Loopholes in the system allow manual interventions, nullifying the efficiency and transparency promised by digitalization.

Urgent Call for Reform

Experts emphasize the need for comprehensive reforms, including strict legal measures against corrupt personnel and the elimination of broker networks. They call for full transparency, robust accountability, and genuinely effective digital platforms to ensure that the BRTA serves the public rather than exploiting them.

Without decisive action, citizens will continue to suffer under a flawed and exploitative system designed to serve their interests.

The meeting was chaired by DSCC Administrator Mr. Md. Shahjahan Mia and attended by 25 committee members, including representatives from various government departments and agencies.

At the beginning of the session, the minutes of the 5th Corporation Meeting held on March 20, 2025, were formally ratified.
Due to the lack of satisfactory bids for the lease of (a) Fulbaria Stopover Bus Terminal and (b) Dholai Khal Truck Terminal—both under DSCC’s jurisdiction—the committee approved a proposal to send a report to the Local Government Division. This report recommends a reassessment of the lease rates under the provisions of the “Policy on the Management, Leasing Method, and Revenue Distribution of Government Markets – 2011.”

The committee also approved a one-time financial grant from the discretionary fund of the DSCC Administrator, in response to a submitted application.

In addition, a decision was taken to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA).
In his closing remarks, DSCC Administrator and meeting chair Mr. Md. Shahjahan Mia emphasized the corporation's continued commitment to prioritizing citizen welfare.

Dhaka, Mirpur – To reduce traffic congestion and ensure smooth pedestrian movement on key roads in the Mirpur area, the Traffic Department of Mirpur has been conducting regular operations.

As part of this ongoing initiative, illegally parked ambulances, private cars, and other vehicles were removed from the main road near Bangla College and Delta Hospital. Legal action was also taken against the violators.

Despite the area's importance for both vehicular and pedestrian movement, ambulances and private cars had long been parked haphazardly in front of the hospital. This led to severe traffic jams and disrupted emergency services, including patient transport.

Although multiple notices had been issued earlier, vehicle owners failed to comply, prompting the Traffic Department to take direct action. During the operation, the illegally parked vehicles were removed with the help of traffic police, and appropriate legal measures were taken.

Local residents and pedestrians welcomed the move and cooperated spontaneously. One pedestrian remarked,

"It was getting harder to walk here every day. Ambulances would block the center, and private cars were parked on the sides. There was barely any space to walk. Now that the road is clear, it feels like discipline is returning to the city."

According to the Traffic Department, such drives will continue regularly. In addition, awareness campaigns will be launched to promote compliance with parking regulations, especially around hospitals and densely populated areas.

Riazul Islam, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (RAJUK), conducted an inspection of the Hatirjheel area under RAJUK’s jurisdiction. This visit is part of RAJUK’s ongoing efforts to transform Dhaka into a livable city.

During the inspection, the RAJUK Chairman reviewed the regular cleanliness operations in the Hatirjheel area. He instructed concerned officials and sanitation workers to immediately remove scattered waste and debris.

He also observed large piles of sand and sandbags stored along footpaths and walkways adjacent to boundary walls—materials reportedly placed there by Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) for various works. Although DNCC had been previously notified to remove these materials, no action had been taken until now. The RAJUK Chairman reiterated the directive and formally notified the DNCC Administrator and Chief Executive Officer once again. In response, DNCC officials assured RAJUK of full cooperation and prompt removal of the materials.

Additionally, the RAJUK Chairman instructed rickshaw pullers and other vehicle drivers operating in the Hatirjheel area to follow traffic rules and avoid traveling in the wrong direction. He warned that strict action would be taken against violators.
