Newly elected Member of Parliament from Sirajganj-3 (Raiganj–Tarash–Solonga), Ainul Haque, visited the graves of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia at the historic Zia Udyan in the capital, where he offered floral tributes and participated in special prayers. Leaders, activists, supporters, and well-wishers from different levels of his constituency were present, creating an emotional and solemn atmosphere around the program.

After paying tribute, the newly elected MP said that Ziaur Rahman’s contributions to post-independence state building, the development of nationalist politics, and the introduction of multi-party democracy in Bangladesh would remain unique in history. He also noted that Khaleda Zia’s long struggle for the restoration of democracy, voting rights, and resistance against authoritarianism significantly enriched the nation’s political consciousness. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people by upholding their ideals, sacrifices, and spirit of patriotism.

He stated that, as a representative elected directly by the people, his foremost responsibility is to preserve public trust and ensure tangible development. With this goal in mind, he pledged to prioritize integrity, accountability, transparency, justice-based governance, and participatory development in fulfilling his parliamentary duties. According to him, politics is not about the enjoyment of power but about improving people’s living standards, establishing social justice, and building a secure and prosperous future for the next generation.

During the visit, he also expressed firm determination to implement the electoral manifesto of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. He emphasized strengthening democratic institutions, ensuring the rule of law, taking effective measures against corruption, creating sustainable employment, modernizing agriculture and the rural economy, introducing practical reforms in education and healthcare, expanding social safety programs, and making local government bodies more effective and accountable. He added that fulfilling the expectations of the জনগণ who elected him would remain at the core of his political commitment.

He further remarked that visiting the mausoleum should not be seen merely as a formal political ritual; rather, it symbolizes respect for history, commitment to ideals, and moral responsibility. Such observances, he said, inspire younger generations toward patriotism, democratic values, and people-oriented leadership. He expressed the view that embracing the spirit of past sacrifices is essential for accelerating present-day development and building a stable, prosperous, and humane Bangladesh for the future.

Local party leaders present at the event said the program had generated renewed optimism and organizational momentum at the grassroots level. They believe visible progress can be achieved in infrastructure development, communication systems, agricultural productivity, quality education and healthcare, and employment opportunities for youth and small entrepreneurs. They expressed hope that coordinated support from central leadership and active public participation would usher in a new phase of sustainable development in Sirajganj-3.

It is noteworthy that Ainul Haque was elected to the National Parliament for the first time from Sirajganj-3 in the recently concluded general election. Since the election, he has continued consultations with party leaders and activists, public outreach, prayer gatherings, and preliminary planning for development initiatives. Observers expect that, with alignment between public expectations and central political guidance, he will soon move toward implementing visible development programs in his constituency.

The northern parliamentary constituency of Sirajganj‑3— comprising Raiganj, Tarash, and Solonga— has long been known as a center of agricultural production and emerging industrial potential. The people of this region, dependent on the vast waters of Chalan Beel, are now hopeful that the new political reality will bring their area into a path of development.

In the 13th National Parliamentary Election, VP Ainul Haque was elected as a Member of Parliament by defeating the candidate of the 11-party alliance by a huge margin. Since his victory, local leaders and residents have been strongly demanding his inclusion in the cabinet.

According to local residents, alongside an agriculture-based economy, the region has significant potential for industrial development. However, the area has long been deprived of expected progress. They believe that having grassroots-oriented leadership like VP Ainul Haque at the policy-making level would help transform the region’s potentials into reality.

In his political career, VP Ainul Haque served three consecutive terms as a student leader during the 1990s. Later, despite an adverse political environment, he was elected Upazila Chairman in 2014, establishing a strong position in local politics. Political analysts in the area believe that his victory in the latest national parliamentary election reflects renewed public confidence in his leadership.

Several local party leaders and activists stated that VP Ainul Haque has long been involved in street-level political movements and struggles. After receiving nomination from youth political icon Tarique Rahman, he secured a landslide victory in the election. They now want to see him as a minister to accelerate the development of northern Bangladesh.

Throughout his long political career, VP Ainul Haque has faced attacks, legal cases, and various forms of political repression. Despite these challenges, locals say he has remained actively connected with both the party organization and the people. They believe his sacrifices and political experience deserve evaluation at the national level.

Grassroots leaders and activists believe that effective initiatives in agriculture, fisheries, and industry are essential to bring this neglected northern region under planned development. They consider VP Ainul Haque’s experience and leadership to be crucial in this regard.

The people of Sirajganj-3 expect that including this popular leader in the cabinet would accelerate development activities in northern Bangladesh. However, it remains to be seen how much this public demand will be reflected in future state policy decisions.
