Three dengue patients die in five days in Rajshahi

Three dengue patients died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in the last five days.

During the period, 130 new dengue patients were admitted to the RMCH. Of the total, 107 have returned home after receiving treatment.

As of 12noon today, 106 dengue patients were undergoing treatment at the hospitals. A total of 12 people have died at the hospital so far.

According to information provided by Dr. Sheikh Shamim Ahmed, spokesperson of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, 20 new dengue patients were admitted to the hospitals on September 19.

On that day, 12 were discharged. On the same day, a dengue patient Anwar Mondal, 52, died.

The deceased was the resident of Tanore upazila of Rajshahi. He was admitted to the RMCH on the night of September 18. He died on September 19.

On September 20, 31 more new dengue patients were admitted to the hospital.

On that day, 18 were discharged. On the same day, a 16-year-old dengue patient named Sathi Rani died.

Sathi Rani was admitted to the RMCH on September 19. She died on September 20.

On the other hand, on September 21, 26 new dengue patients were admitted to the hospital. At the same time, 27 were discharged. No patient died from dengue on that day.

At the end of the day, 104 dengue patients were undergoing treatment at the hospital.

On September 22, 29 more new dengue patients were admitted to the RMCH. On this day, 25 were discharged.

On the same day, a dengue patient named Abdul Karim, 45, died. At that time, the number of dengue patients undergoing treatment increased to 107.

He was admitted to the RMCH on September 16. Later, he died on September 22.

On Wednesday, 24 more new dengue patients were admitted to the hospital. At the same time, 25 were discharged.

Currently 106 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

BGB seizes Indian onions and liquor worth Tk 60.63 lakh in Sylhet

The paramilitary force Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), in a special drive here, seized 3,500 kilogrammes of illegally imported Indian onions, 120 bottles of liquor and other Indian goods worth approximately Tk 60.63 lakh.

"Acting on intelligence information, a special operational team of Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) conducted the drive on Tuesday night in the border area under the Pratappur Border Outpost in Gowainghat upazila," said a BGB press release issued here this afternoon.

Sylhet Battalion Commander Lt Col Md Nazmul Haque said intelligence activities and operations along the border were continuing to maintain security and prevent smuggling and drug trafficking.

He said the country had produced a substantial quantity of onions this year and that the illegal entry of Indian onions could adversely affect local farmers.

The BGB is maintaining vigilance to prevent the unlawful entry of Indian onions and other contraband through the border, he added.

Necessary legal action is being taken in connection with the seizure.

Government Plans Proper Management of Kuakata’s Khas Land: Land Adviser

Land Adviser Ali Imam Majumder has said proper management of khas land in and around Kuakata in Patuakhali is a long-term step of the government. He said through this step, the interim government has a tourist-friendly sustainable development plan for the development of Kuakata. Majumder discussed the real scenario of the khas land in Kuakata and other issues at a meeting at Kuakata Tourism Park auditorium here on Thursday. Patuakhali Deputy Commissioner Abu Hasnat Mohammad Arefin, Kalapara UNO Rabiul Islam and officials from various government agencies were present at the meeting. Earlier in the day, the land adviser visited Payra Thermal Power Plant.
