Bangladesh, European Envoys Review Strategic Partnership Expansion
Bangladesh and its European partners today reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening their long-standing relations as they held wide-ranging discussions on expanding economic cooperation and collaboration in several strategic sectors of mutual interest.
The understanding came at a meeting between Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir and five European ambassadors and senior diplomats stationed in Dhaka at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon this afternoon.
The meeting featured fruitful discussions on the long-standing friendly relations between Bangladesh and its European partners, the growing economic partnership, and a range of issues of mutual interest.
French Ambassador Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet, Spanish Ambassador Gabriel Sistiaga, British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke, European Union Chargé d’Affaires Baiba Zari?a and German Chargé d’Affaires Anja Karsten attended the meeting.
Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury was also present.
During the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of further deepening and diversifying cooperation in trade and investment, defence, civil aviation and other sectors of shared interest.
The discussions reflected the shared desire of Bangladesh and its European partners to broaden engagement in areas that support economic growth, investment and long-term strategic cooperation.
Humaiun Kobir expressed hope that Bangladesh’s existing relations with the European countries would be further strengthened on the basis of mutual trust and shared interests.
The European diplomats, in turn, reaffirmed their keen interest in expanding their respective countries’ multifaceted partnerships with Bangladesh, signaling continued support for enhanced bilateral and regional cooperation.
The meeting forms part of Bangladesh’s ongoing diplomatic engagement with its European partners aimed at consolidating long-standing ties and exploring new avenues of cooperation across political, economic and strategic sectors.
