Actress Tabassum Mithila joined “Shekor Cultural Foundation”
Popular actress Tabassum Mithila has officially joined the newly established Shekor Cultural Foundation, a cultural organization dedicated to promoting progressive media and cultural activities rooted in the spirit of Bangladeshi nationalism.
The announcement was made during the foundation’s grand inauguration ceremony held on Friday evening at Mintu Bhai Shooting House on Dhaka’s 300 Feet Road. The event was attended by prominent cultural personalities, media professionals, artists, and well-wishers from various sectors.
A new organization, Shekor Cultural Foundation, officially began its journey with the objective of promoting media and cultural practices rooted in Bangladeshi nationalism and progressive values.
The foundation was formally launched through a colorful and well-attended ceremony held at Mintu Bhai Shooting House on the 300 Feet Road in Dhaka on Friday evening (June 12).
The event commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the singing of the National Anthem in chorus.
At the outset of the program, participants observed a one-minute silence in memory of the martyrs of the Great Liberation War, the martyrs of the anti-autocracy movement of 1990, and the martyrs of the 2024 mass uprising. The gathering also paid tribute to the late cultural personalities who made significant contributions to Bangladesh’s cultural landscape.
Delivering the welcome address, Syed Shakil, Convener of Shekor Cultural Foundation, greeted the guests and outlined the significance of the initiative. Member Secretary Riazul Riju presented a detailed overview of the organization’s goals, objectives, and future plans.
To ensure the smooth operation of the foundation’s activities, an 11-member convening committee has been formed for a period of 90 days, with Syed Shakil serving as Convener and Riazul Riju as Member Secretary.
Several distinguished guests addressed the event and shared their views on the future of the organization. Among them were Mozammel Haque Khan, Shahed Sharif Khan, Zahidul Islam Mintu, Kazi Riaz Hossain, Mousumi Hamid, Tabassum Mithila, Mihi Ahsan, Ashraf Tulu, Syed Hasan Junnurain, Ashraful Alam Bablu, Tushar Mahmud, Aminul Babu, M.A. Hossain Monju, and Saifur Rahman Evan.
The program concluded with an engaging cultural performance featuring Baul songs, folk music, poetry recitations, patriotic songs, and traditional musical presentations. Speakers and guests welcomed the foundation’s initiative and expressed optimism that Shekor Cultural Foundation would play a significant role in promoting healthy cultural values and enriching Bangladesh’s cultural sphere in the years to come.
