President Shahabuddin May Resign Soon
President Mohammed Shahabuddin is going to resign, according to a senior government source.
He will resign soon, citing physical illness.
According to the source, the government and the BNP are deliberating at the highest level over the nomination of a new president. If the appointment is delayed, Speaker Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed will assume the role of acting president until a successor is appointed.
There is 'no doubt' President Mohammad Shahabuddin will resign soon, the source added.
