BHF Mourns Passing of Veteran Sports Organizer Shayesta Khan

Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of renowned educationist and national award-winning veteran sportsperson Professor Shayesta Khan. Shayesta Khan passed away today (Monday) while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chattogram at the age of 80. He left behind one son, one daughter, relatives and host of well wishers to mourn his death. The educationist, who served as the principal of Chattogram Government Commerce College, Dhaka Suhrawardy College and Chattogram Government Women's College, played an important role in spreading handball across the country.
He served as the managing committee‘s secretary in the 10th National Handball (Men's) Championship in 1994-95, Commonwealth Youth Handball Championship in 1995 and member of managing committee of the 6th Asia Junior Women's Handball Championship in 2000. Professor Shayesta Khan received the prestigious national award as a sports organizer in 2001 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the development of sports.
He has been serving as the general secretary of the Chattogram Metropolitan Sports Association from 1990 until his death. The BHF, handball referees association, handball coaches association, as well as all levels of the handball family, including organizers, coaches, referees, players and sports enthusiasts expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Professor Shayesta Khan and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
