Mahfuj Hopes Notun Kuri Winners Will Elevate Bangladesh’s Cultural Arena
Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md. Mahfuj Alam today hoped that the child performers who won the Notun Kuri competition will earn fame in the cultural arena of Bangladesh through hard work. He said this while addressing the award-giving ceremony for winners of the Notun Kuri 2025 competition at the Bangladesh Television (BTV) auditorium in the capital’s Rampura. Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farjana spoke as the special guest with BTV Director General Md. Mahbubul Alam in the chair. Congratulating the child and adolescent winners, the adviser urged the young artists of Notun Kuri to continue practicing culture as the future generation of the country.
Their talents in other fields should also be nurtured, he said. Highlighting the important role of parents and teachers in developing the talents of children and adolescents, he said that behind the success shown by the child performers in the Notun Kuri competition lies the contribution of parents and teachers. He congratulated all parents and teachers of the winning participants. Addressing the children and adolescents, he said, “Many of you witnessed the July mass uprising. Many of those who embraced martyrdom the uprising may have been known to you. This initiative (Notun Kuri) has been undertaken so that you can walk on the path toward the dream envisioned by those who embraced martyrdom or injured in that uprising.”
Explaining the background of resuming the competition after twenty years, he said that the initiative was taken in last July; he said adding after a long process, the competition concluded officially today through awarding the winners. Mahfuj said Notun Kuri has sparked a hope that Bangladesh’s culture will survive and proudly stand tall across the world. He expressed hope that the next government will also continue the tradition of organizing this competition. Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farjana said the child performers who won the Notun Kuri competition will one day become leaders in the fields of arts and culture.
She also expressed hope that these young performers will take Bangladesh’s arts and culture far ahead.
BTV Director General Md. Mahbubul Alam said that the Notun Kuri competition was completed within just one and a half months, thanks to the direct guidance and sincere efforts of the Information and Broadcasting Adviser. Speaking about BTV’s plans for the winners, he said that the top ten performers from each category of the competition will be directly included in BTV’s list of artists. Additionally, only the top ten winners of Notun Kuri will be featured in BTV’s ‘Shishuprohor’ programme, which will be aired every Friday, he said. A total of 73 child performers who secured 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each categories of Group ‘Ka’ and Group ‘Kha’ were awarded at the ceremony.

Winners received cheques of TK 2 lakh for 1st place, TK 1 lakh for 2nd place, and TK 50,000 for 3rd place, along with trophies and certificates. Notably, the overall champions — Priyosi Chakraborty (Group ‘Ka’) and Shubhomita Talukder (Group ‘Kha’) — received cheques of TK 3 lakh and trophies from the Chief Adviser on 13 November.
