Main Theme of This Year's Police Week: "Amar Police Amar Desh, Boishommyohin Bangladesh"

On Tuesday (April 29) at 10:30 AM, Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus inaugurated Police Week by delivering a speech to police personnel at the Rajarbagh Police Lines ground. He then awarded medals to distinguished police officers.

According to Mirpur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Sajjad Roman, various activities within the force have already commenced in preparation for Police Week.

It has been reported that, on this occasion, different police units will present the challenges specific to their departments. Additionally, the police have taken several initiatives aimed at building public trust, including enhancing logistic support, increasing research, and other citizen-friendly reforms.

As part of Police Week, on Wednesday (April 30), the following presentations and meetings will take place at the Police Auditorium:

SB presentation in the morning

CID presentation at 9:15 AM

RAB presentation at 10:00 AM

Meetings between police officers and advisers/secretaries from various ministries

Presentations by the Tourist Police, PBI, and Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU)

On May 1, the IGP will confer badges, and there will be a conference of senior police officials along with discussion sessions with people from various walks of life. Events also include the annual general meetings of the Police Service Association and Police Officers’ Mess, a reunion between current and retired officers, and a formal dinner.

On May 2, the annual Police Family Welfare Association (PUNAK) assembly and fair will take place, along with the prize distribution and closing ceremony for PUNAK stalls.

According to the Police Headquarters, the following six demands will be presented by the police during this year's Police Week:

1. Formation of an Independent Police Commission, including a Complaint Cell for the public and a Grievance Resolution Committee for police personnel.

2. A compensation allowance equivalent to one month’s basic salary.

3. Establishment of an independent Cyber Unit.

4. Expansion of manpower and provision of modern medical equipment in divisional police hospitals, along with the establishment of a Police Medical College.

5. Supernumerary promotions at retirement for officers who served long periods in the same rank (from constable to inspector).

6. Financial allocation for funeral and burial expenses for deceased police personnel.
