Burn Institute Restricts Entry to Control Crowds

Following the Air Force training plane crash in Uttara, authorities have imposed strict entry controls at the Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute to manage the large crowds. Since Tuesday morning (July 22), members of the Bangladesh Army have been closely monitoring the institute's entry points. According to hospital sources, from now on, officers and staff must show their identification cards to gain entry. Relatives of patients are also required to provide details about their relationship with the patient, the patient’s name, and the ward where the patient is admitted. Entry is granted only after identity verification.

An official of the Burn Institute, who wished to remain anonymous, said that on Monday, the overwhelming crowd of relatives and visitors disrupted medical activities. Police and Ansar personnel on duty struggled to control the large gatherings. The presence of numerous journalists among the injured patients and their families further complicated crowd management. As a result, with support from the Army, strict control measures have been enforced since early Tuesday. As of the latest update, information about 25 deceased individuals has been confirmed. Meanwhile, 78 injured patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the capital, with five in critical condition.
