1,33,613 Students Set to Appear in HSC Exams in Rajshahi

A total of 1,33,613 students, including 64,653 girls, are going to appear in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Rajshahi this year. Of them, 33,962 students, including 16,699 girls, are taking part in the public examinations and from the Science group, while 87,972, including 44,164 girls, from humanities and 11,557, including 3,728 girls, from business studies. They will appear in the public examinations from 755 institutions in 207 centres in all eight districts under Rajshahi Board scheduled to be held from June 26 (Thursday) like other education boards in the country. Professor Ariful Islam, controller of Examinations of the Board, said they have taken all sorts of necessary preparations for holding the examinations successfully. Vigilance teams were formed side by side with the respective district and upazila administrations for peaceful examinations.
Prof Islam said 1,52,859 students, including 77,653 girls, had registered but 1,14,305 of them, including 57,935 girls, applied for taking part in the examination meaning that 38,554 students, including 19,718 girls, remained dropout under the board this year. Meanwhile, BISE, Rajshahi authorities has held a view-sharing meeting with centre-secretaries at Jail Training Academy auditorium here today for holding the public examinations peacefully and successfully. With Board Chairman Prof Mofakkharul Islam in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Secretary Prof Shameem Ara Chowdhury, Controller of Examinations Prof Ariful Islam, College Inspector Prof Mahbub Hassan and School Inspector Shamim Hassan. Prof Mofakkharul Islam urged the centre-secretaries to perform their respective duties with utmost sincerity and honesty for making the examinations a total success. He warned that disciplinary action will be taken against those who will be found engaged either in any irregularity or negligence.
