Influential people grab land of helpless man at Charbhadrasan

Allegations have been found that influential people have grabbed the land of a helpless man Akkas Ali Khan, 50, son of late Usman Gani Khan and erected a tin hut there at BS Dangi Village in Charbhadrasan Upazila of the district.

Local influential people Obaidullah Al-Azad, 35, Jabed Khan, 50, Sheikh Salam, 55, Sheikh Shahadat, 30, and Sheikh Azad, 25, along with more than 50 other thugs threatened to kill the helpless Akkas Ali Khan.

It is also alleged that the occupants forcibly uprooted the trees from about five decimals of the open land from the family’s residential house to the paved road. Later, helpless Akkas Ali Khan went to Charbhadrasan Police Station and lodged a complaint.

Victim and helpless Akkas Ali Khan said, “My family has been living in a house for the last 35 years through leasing government khas land. As a very helpless family, 34 decimals of government null land was leased in my name and I have been paying regular lease money. In 1975, the government leased 34 decimals of the land in holding no. 8334 of khatian no.

1852 of Charbhadrasan mouza no. 164 in my name. Lease number of the said land is XII-VP-26/85-86. Later I filled the land with earth after bringing by truck and planted trees and shrubs and has been living in peace. But my rogue neighbors Jabed Khan, Salam Sheikh, Shahadat Sheikh and Azad Sheikh have forcibly occupied the land with the help of Obaidullah Al-Azad, younger brother of the present upazila chairman.”

In this regard, Upazila Chairman Alhaj Md. Kausar said, “Our ancestral land was sold by my late father Maulvi Abul Kalam, so none of our other four brothers has any demand. But our younger brother Obaidullah Al-Azad went to occupy that land by disobeying everyone.”  Obaidullah Al-Azad, the grabber, said, “I built the house on the because there was land of my grandfather’s area nearby.”

Investigating Officer of Charbhadrasan PS Sub-Inspector Probir Kumar said, “I went to the spot and stopped the construction work of the occupants’ houses. After looking at the land documents of both the parties, legal action will be taken.”
