Two people were killed and another was injured when a tractor overturned on the Nabinagar-Radhika road in Borohit area under Nabinagar upazila of the district today.
The deceased were identified as tractor driver Md Enamul, 26, son of Md Shahjahan, resident of Ruti village of Dharkhar union under Akhaura upazila and helper of the tractor Amir Hosain, 14, son of Bazlu Miah, resident of Brahmanhata village of Kaitla (North) union under Nabinagar upazila.
The accident occurred in the area when a Shivpur-bound sand-laden tractor overturned and fell into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over the steering in the morning, leaving the driver and helper of the tractor dead on the spot and another injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Nabinagar Police Station Md Mahbub Alam said.
The injured was taken to a local hospital, he said.
Police recovered the bodies from the spot and sent to Sadar hospital morgue, he added.
