Two students killed in bike accident in Kurigram

Two school students were killed in a collision between a motorcycle and a truck in Tanaripara near Dharla Bridge area of the district town last night.

The deceased were identified as are Sadman Sadik, 16, son of Abdul Wadud of Palashbari Baniapara area and Himu Sarkar, 16, son of Nurul Islam of Garialpara area of the town. They were tenth-grade students of Kurigram Government High School in the area.

The accident occurred when they were going to the Dharla Bridge area riding on a motorcycle. On the way, the rider lost control over the steering and the bike hit a truck coming from the opposite direction in the area around 7:30pm last night, leaving Sadman Sadik dead on the spot and Himu Sarkar injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kurigram Sadar Police Station Masudur Rahman said.

The injured was taken to Kurigram Sadar Hospital. Later, he was shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment, where he died while undergoing treatment, OC said.

Police seized the truck but the driver fled the scene, the OC added.

A case was filed in this connection.
