“The German Embassy in Bangladesh is working on its own and through NGOs to protect the human rights of all people. Especially, rural underprivileged women are victims of human rights violations and are deprived of justice.
These people cannot take shelter of the law so they do not get justice. We are working to protect the human rights of all these people,” said the Deputy Ambassador of the German Embassy in Dhaka Jane Rolf at the experience-sharing meeting on the role of trained women advocates in human rights protection at the Gangachara Upazila Parishad hall room on Sunday.
Organized by trained women advocates and in cooperation with the German Embassy in Dhaka, the Country Director of The Hunger Project Bangladesh Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder spoke at the exchange meeting. At that time, representatives of the German Ambassador Joseph Shu, Sharnila, and Tajima Mazumder were present.
Among others, Upazila Social Service Officer Mosaddekur Rahman, Cooperatives Officer Aftabuzzaman Chayan, Gangachara Government Model High School Head Teacher Abdul Akher Mia, Lakkhitari UP Chairman Abdullah Al Hadi, Kolkonda UP Panel Chairman Shariful Islam, Gangachara UP Chairman Mazharul Islam Lebu, journalists Abdul Bari Swapan, Nirmal Roy, and Sujan Ahmed, and representative of RDRS Mizanur Rahman also spoke.
Trained women advocates Anjuman Ara Begum Mini, Khyant Rani Roy, Nilufa Yasmin, Parul Begum, Moushumi, Babita, Farida, Arjina, Shapla, Mohsina, Mobashirina, Najma, and Roksana spoke by highlighting their experiences.
The Hunger Project Bangladesh Regional Coordinator Rajesh Dey and Upazila Coordinator Shamsuddin conducted the event. Later, Deputy Ambassador Jane Rolf visited the Teesta River.
