Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said that BNP has secret ties with Israel and the country’s intelligence agency Mossad.

“The meeting of a BNP’s senior leader with the Israeli intelligence agency was published in the media. BNP is always involved in such anti-national activities,” he said.

He said these in a statement signed by Awami League Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua on Sunday (July 9). It also condemned and protested the recent false and baseless and fabricated statements of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

In the statement, Obaidul Quader said, “Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was vocal in the movement of the Palestinian people and Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina was also vocal in establishing the legal rights of the Palestinian people. Sheikh Hasina invited then-Palestinian President Yasser Arafat to celebrate the silver jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence.”

He said that BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has given “fictitious statements” of hacking the phones of opposition leaders using Israeli technology to create confusion. Such an irresponsible statement by a political leader is very shameful.

Awami League General Secretary said that Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s concocted statement is a continuation of their ongoing propaganda and rumor-terrorism. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is involved in this conspiracy to influence countrymen and foreigners with false and fabricated information. “I would urge, don’t throw rocks in the dark like this to confuse people to muddy the waters,” he also said.

The statement also said that in the recently held city corporation elections, there was no disruption in the exercise of voting rights of the people. “Even though BNP boycotted elections in the past, people resisted their anti-election activities. Therefore, we call upon BNP to abandon its anti-election stance and participate in the upcoming National Assembly elections and focus on democratic politics,” he added.
