‘Planting trees necessary to tackle climate change issues’

“There is no alternative to planting trees to combat the adverse effects of climate change and global high inflation. Today, if you want to sustain yourself, you have to plant trees. The world today is a victim of climate and environmental pollution. Bangladesh is the most affected,” said Chattogram
Metropolitan Awami League leader Helal Akbar Chowdhury Babar as the chief guest at an environment and climate conference organized by the environmentalist organization Ad Vision Bangladesh at Motel Saikat Auditorium in the city on Saturday afternoon.
He also said that Bangladesh Awami League started tree plantation programme in 1985.
Necessary trees should be planted along with vegetables in empty places to save from the bad effects of the price hike of daily commodities.
Amjad Hossain Hazari, the advisor of the organization and Chattogram Metropolitan Awami League leader, chaired the meeting while Md. Kamal Uddin, Awami League leaders Sheikh Naushed Sarwar Piltu and Md. Abdul Aziz, Joint Convener of Metropolitan Jubo League Jahanara Saber, Md. Jasim Uddin Chowdhury, Nasir Bangali, M. Nurul Huda Chowdhury, Md. Hasan Murad, Md. Yusuf, Moushumi Chowdhury, Sajmin Kanika, Awami League leaders Muminul Haque Mumin and Akbar Ali, Chattogram Metropolitan Swechchhasebak League leader Md. Delwar, Chittagong College Chhatra League Vice-President Md. Monirul Islam, Chittagong Mohsin College Chhatra League leader Anwar Palash, Kotwali Thana Chhatra League Public Relations and Development Affairs Secretary Yasir Arafat Riku, Jubo Mohila League leader Ayesha Siddika, artist Shiuli Akhter, Md. Mostafa, Abul Hashem, journalists Aminul Haque Shaheen, Rafiqul Islam, and Seema Chowdhury, and Swechchhasebak League leader Rubel Dey also spoke.
