Several hundred students of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) made a human chain on Wednesday protesting the decision of constructing Hi-Tech park in the place of the second academic building. The students made the human chain in front of university academic building at 1.00pm

From the human chain, Shariful Islam Sohag a third year student of History department said, ‘according to the master plan of the university, the second academic building was supposed to be constructed at the place where the hi-tech park has been constructed. This hi-tech park is not an institution under the university while the second academic building is very necessary to solve the classroom crisis and lab crisis of our 12 thousand students, so we are protesting the decision of constricting hi-tech park in the place of second academic building.’

‘In the last 5 years locals have attacked general students 4 times and around 250 students have been injured. As the Hi-tech park will be open for all the people of Gopalganj so if it’s built inside the university campus, the entry of outsiders will increase and the security of the students will be threatened. So to ensure the security of general students we urged the authority to allocate a new place for the hi-tech park.’- he also added
