National Youth Platform and workshop on Clean Air and Renewable Energy for Bangladesh was inaugurated on Friday (September 23) at the Institute of Energy of Dhaka University (DU). Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) of DU Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal attended the inaugural function as chief guest.
Presided over by Associate Professor of the Institute of Energy Dr. S M Nasif Shams the inaugural function was addressed by Chairman of Climate Parliament Bangladesh Tanvir Shakil Joy MP, Convener of Climate Parliament Bangladesh Nahim Razzak MP and Member of Climate Parliament Bangladesh Shameem Haider Patwary MP as special guests.
Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal said, youth are the agent of change of the world. Clean air and renewable energy are inextricably linked. He discussed about the harmful aspects of fossil fuels as well as the impact on public health. He emphasized on the researches to reduce air pollution.
The Institute of Energy of DU, Climate Parliament Bangladesh and Bangladesh Solar Energy Society have jointly organized this workshop.
It may be mention here that the workshop are being prepared so that at least 100 young people may learn about the causes, impacts and potential ways to reduce air pollution and develop the skills to address the problem.
