Veterinary Olympiad held at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University

Bangladesh Veterinary Olympiad was held for the first time at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. The Olympiad was held on Saturday (October 1) at 11.00 am in the third floor corridor of Sheikh Kamal Bhaban of the university.

Funded by USAID and supported by National Veterinary Deans Council (NVDC), and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), 12 veterinary degree awarding universities and colleges held online and offline competitions simultaneously from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm. .

17 groups of 5 students participated in the competition in Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. The program consists of online quiz competitions and periodic game play and offline case studies.

Superbug team became the champion from Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. The team leader selected was Muhtadi Md Waliullah and other members were Md Mojahidul Islam Tushar, Farhad Hossain Sagar, Sonia Hasnat Jahan.

At the end of the day-long program at 3.30 pm, the chief guest Md. Shahidur Rashid  Bhaiyya handed over certificates and prizes to the participants and winners. The event was presided over by the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine (ASVM) Dr. Lam-ya Asad. Professor of the same faculty Mofazzal Hossain, Professor Dr. KBM Saiful Islam, Professor Dr. Mosharraf Hossain, Dr. Sajeda Sultana Associate Professor Dr. Mahfuzul Islam, Dr. Md. Rashedul Islam and other teachers of the faculty were also present..

In the speech of the chief guest, Professor Dr. Md. Shahidur Rashid Bhaiya said, you students of this faculty will move forward with new perspective and thoughts. Knowledge will spread through your mutual knowledge acquisition. He also said, you must have deep love for the country. The country is really beautiful.

Note that 12 teams were selected from 12 veterinary universities and colleges of the country. The winning 12 teams will participate in the climbing competition at the Royal Tulip Hotel in Cox’s Bazar on November 16.
