Inter-department basketball competition begins in DU

The inter-departmental basketball competition started in the gymnasium of the Physical Education Center of Dhaka University yesterday. University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman was present as the chief guest and inaugurated this competition.

The Vice-Chancellor wished success and good luck to the participating players and said that sports activities have started again in the university to face the adversity of the Corona epidemic. Various interdepartmental and inter-hall sports competitions have already been organized. He expressed hope that students will participate in these competitions spontaneously.

He also said that besides studies, participating in co-educational activities including sports at the national and international level is very important. The Vice-Chancellor called upon the players of the University to become skilled to achieve excellence at the national and international level and increase the reputation of the country.

Dhaka University Basketball Committee President Prof. Dr. Mohammad Billal Hossain was presiding the event and the physical education center advisor Professor Dr. Asim Sarkar gave the opening speech. Director of physical education center Shahjahan Ali, various departments including Teachers, students and players were present.

The Electrical and Electronic Department and International Business Department participated in the inaugural match.
