International Accounting Day observed at JU

Accounting and Information System (AIS) Department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) observed International Accounting Day on the campus amid excitement and festivities.

JU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr. Md Nurul Alam inaugurated the event by blowing up colorful balloons at the Business Studies building premises on Thursday (November 10, 2022).

Later, the department brought out a colorful procession which started passing through various streets of the university and ended at the Business Study Faculty premises.

Besides, a seminar was held on the occasion of the day at the department. Dr. Md. Hamid Ullah Bhuiya, Chairman of the Financial Report Council spoke as keynote speaker.

Addressing the event as the Convener and a lecturer of the AIS Department Mehedi Hasan said, “AIS Department is observing this day for the first time. I strongly believe that our country and other countries have to excel in the accounting profession to ensure accountability. For this reason, we observe this day with a day-long program.”

Sohel Rana, assistant professor and chairman of AIS Department, addressed that, “Accounting Day is celebrated all around the world, but we are celebrating it for the first time. We want students to be acquainted with this day and its history by observing it.”

Chairman of the AIS Department Prof Sohel Rana presided over the event while Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr Sheikh Md Monzurul Haq, teachers and students of the department, among others, were present at the function.
