A child was crushed to death by a potato-laden truck on the Akkelpur-Tilakpur road in Burapukur Bishnupur village of Tilakpur union under Akkelpur upazila of the district last night.
The deceased was identified as Musa, 10, son of Mubarak Ali of Barapukur village of the upazila. He was a 4th grade student of the local Kadwa Madrasah.
The accident occurred when he was returning home riding a bicycle. On the way a Tilakpur-bound potato-laden truck from Akkelpur hit him coming from the opposite direction in the area around 8pm last night. He fell under the truck and died on the spot, officer-in-charge (OC) of Akkelpur Police Station Shahinur Rahman said.
Police seized the truck and arrested the driver and helper from the spot, he said.
