Mother, son killed in bike accident in Tangail

A woman and his son were killed being hit by a bus in Jhawaile area under Gopalpur upazila of the district today.

The deceased were identified as China Begum, 48, wife of late Kamruzzaman Tota and her son Sakib Miah, 19, of Mouza Dakuri village under Gopalpur upazila of the district.

The accident occurred when Sakib Miah was going to Gopalpur upazila headquarters riding a motorcycle with his mother and collided head-on with a bus coming from the opposite direction in the area around 8am this morning. They died on the spot, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gopalpur Police Station Emdadul Islam Taiyab said.

Police recovered the bodies from the spot and seized the bus but its driver and helper managed to escape, the OC added.
