‘People’s life became dynamic for spread of information technology’

Senior Secretary of Information and Communication Technology Department N M Ziaul Alam said, “People’s lives have become dynamic due to the spread of information technology. Employment opportunities for about 20 lakh youth have been created in IT sector. About 13 crore people are using internet in the country.”

He said these as the chief guest in a view exchange meeting on the activities of the project titled ‘Establishment of Digital Connectivity (EDC)’ under implementation by the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology, which was held at Khulna deputy commissioner’s conference room on Saturday. Khulna District Administration organized the event.

He also said, “Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had laid the foundation of Bangladesh based on science and technology. Along that path, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken the country to a unique height by building Digital Bangladesh. Digital services have been launched in almost all government and private departments including education, health, financial institutions. e-documents have been introduced in all departments. Eight crore people have been vaccinated using government protection apps. Around 39 hi-tech parks have been set up in the country. A hi-tech park in the divisional city of Khulna will be a sight to behold. Laptops will be provided to various educational institutions of Khulna for the convenience of students. Maximum use of computer labs should be ensured in all educational institutions. The country has been transformed into digital Bangladesh under the leadership of the Prime Minister.”

Khulna Deputy Commissioner Md. Moniruzzaman Talukdar chaired the event while Additional Secretary and Project Director of Information and Communication Technology Department Dr. Khandaker Azizul Islam was the special guest. Additional DC (Education & ICT) Mukul Kumar Maitra welcomed the guests.

Officials of government departments, heads of various educational institutions of Khulna, entrepreneurs, students and internet service providers participated in the meeting.
