KUET celebrates 20th anniv thru fanfare

The Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) celebrated its 20th anniversary and University Day through various events on Friday.
On this occasion, the national flag and the university flag were hoisted at 9:30 am along with playing the national anthem.
Bangladesh University Grants Commission Chairman (Additional Duty) Professor Dr. Muhammad Alamgir spoke as the chief guest at the opening ceremony. After the speech, the chief guest inaugurated the day’s programmes by releasing balloons and pigeons.
KUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mihir Ranjan Halder chaired the programmes.
Sunamganj Science and Technology University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abu Naeem Sheikh and KUET Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Sobhan Mia spoke as the special guests. Professor Dr. Md. Sahidul Islam, president of the celebration committee, gave the welcome speech.
At 9:30 am, a colorful rally attended by guests, teachers, officials, employees, and students of the KUET started from the front of the university’s administrative building that paraded the city’s Fulbari Gate and ended on the campus.
At 10 am, a poster and project presentation was held at the Student Welfare Center, and at 10:15 am, a presentation on ‘Achievements of KUET: Past, Present and Future’ was held at the auditorium.
Mentionable, KUET was first established as an engineering college in 1967. The foundation stone was laid in 1968 and academic activities started under the special direction of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on June 3, 1974.
It became the Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT) Khulna on July 1, 1986, and was transformed into Khulna University of Engineering and Technology on September 1, 2003.
