“Market monitoring needs to be increased to control the price of daily commodities,” said Khulna Deputy Commissioner (DC) Khandaker Yasir Arefin at the September meeting of the District Law and Order Committee.
DC Khandkar Yasir Arefin chaired the meeting which was held in his conference room on Monday.
He said to speed up the trial of drug-related cases, it is necessary to take measures to present evidence at the right time. “There is no alternative to increasing family values and social awareness to prevent the spread of drugs in society. During the upcoming Durga Puja, emphasis should be placed on the installation of closed circuit cameras at all puja mandaps to prevent deterioration of law and order situation. Power connection to puja mandaps should be safe so that no accidents happen,” the DC also said. In the meeting, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Saidur Rahman said, “The police work for and with the people.
If common people report crimes happening around them to the police, the police can contribute more effectively to eliminating criminal activities from society. The police are on alert to prevent any attempt to worsen the law and order situation in the country during the upcoming Durga Puja and parliamentary elections. Everyone should be aware of any kind of rumors and misinformation using social media. Neighbors need to keep an eye on their actions and movements if they see someone new in the area.” Khulna Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Sabizur Rahman said, “The prevalence of dengue disease is high in the country this year. If everyone is not aware, the situation may worsen. The spread of the Aedes mosquito responsible for this disease must be prevented. Drinking green coconut water has no significant role in curing dengue. Anti-venom to treat snakebite patients will reach all upazila health complexes in the district within a week.” Khulna Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) Sonali Sen said, “A special operation is underway against drug-related crimes in the metropolitan area.
As a result, the number of drug arrests has increased recently. Permanent police check-posts and mobile patrols are running in the metropolitan area. The KMP will have a special plan to control the crime trend and traffic congestion during the upcoming Durga Puja. Besides, the law enforcers are working to stop online gambling.”
Additional District Magistrate Mir Alif Reza highlighted the law and order situation in Khulna District and Metropolis in the last month. He said that 169 cases were filed in Khulna District jurisdiction last August, which is 34 less than the number of cases filed last July.
Khulna Metropolitan jurisdiction registered 204 cases in August, which is 28 more than last July.
