Progs organized on Nat’l Local Government Day in Khulna

For the first time, on the occasion of National Local Government Day, a discussion meeting and cultural programmes were held and a three-day long fair was inaugurated at Shahid Hadis Park in the city on Sunday.
This year’s theme of the day is ‘Efficient Architect of Service and Improvement, Local Government in Development-Innovation’.
Khulna City Corporation Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque chaired the events. In his speech, the city mayor said, “The city corporation is a service-oriented organization.
Local government institutions are run by elected representatives of the people and the department is committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in providing services to the people. There are five levels of the local government system starting from city corporation to district, upazila, municipality, and union. In order to build a beautiful city, along with moral education, the children should develop the habit of cleanliness.” “The local government works alongside the general public with the development activities of the government and social activities.
In order to build a beautiful and clean city, the general public along with the city corporation should be aware.
By observing this day, the bond between the local government and the general public will be strengthened and service delivery will be easy and hassle-free. I hope that Khulna will become a beautiful city after the completion of the city’s development activities.”

Feroz Shah, Khulna Additional Range DIG Md. Nizamul Haque Molla, Deputy Director of the Local Government Department of Khulna Deputy Commissioner’s Office Md. Yusuf Ali
and Superintendent of Police Mohammad Saidur Rahman spoke as the special guests on the occasion. Chief Executive Officer of Khulna City Corporation Lashkar Tajul Islam gave a welcome speech. Valiant freedom fighter Md. Alamgir Kabir, Khulna District Awami League General Secretary Advocate Sujit Kumar Adhikari, Khulna Metropolitan Awami League General Secretary MDA Babul Rana and Greater Khulna Development Struggle Coordination Committee President Sheikh Ashrafuzzaman also spoke on the occasion. Khulna City Corporation organized this event.
Earlier, the colorful rally led by the city mayor started from Shibbari, paraded various roads, and ended at Shahid Hadis Park. People from different classes and professions participated in the rally. It should be noted that the closing ceremony of the three-day fair and local government day will be held on September 19 at 8 pm. Various government services are being provided free of charge through 15 stalls in the fair.
