To mark the National Mourning Day and the 47th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the district unit of Swadhinota Sikkhok Porishad (Swaship) organized a discussion meeting and a doa mahfil.
On this occasion, wreaths were placed on the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu Independence Freedom Square of the Matiranga Upazila Parishad on Saturday morning. Later, the district unit of Swaship organized a discussion meeting at the Upazila Parishad, where General Secretary of the central committee of Swaship and Secretary of Non-Government Teachers-Workers Welfare Board Principal Md. Shahjahan Alam Saju was the chief guest while Swaship’s district President Md. Amjad Hossain Chowdhury chaired it and General Secretary of Swaship’s district unit and Taindong High School Principal Rezaul Karim moderated it. General Secretary of Chattogram Divisional Swaship Professor Partha Sarthi Chowdhury spoke as the main speaker.
Among others, Panchhari Government University College Principal and district Awami League Vice-President Sameer Dutta, Matiranga Municipal Mayor and district Awami League Vice-President Md. Shamchul Haque, Khagrachhari Hill District Council Education Department Convenor and district Awami League Education and Human Affairs Secretary Professor Nilotpal Khisa, District Secondary Education Officer Uttam Khisa, Swaship’s Central Joint General Secretary and Member of Non-Government Teacher-Employee Welfare Board Principal Salim Ullah Salim, Swaship’s Central Organizing Secretary and President of Central Parishad Head Teacher Abdullah Al Mamun, and Swaship Central Committee Information Technology Secretary Ratan Peter Gomez spoke as the special guests.
Swaship Chattogram Divisional General Secretary Mozzamel Haque, Khagrachhari District Head Teachers Parishad Ataul Islam, Chattogram Divisional Swaship President Abul Kashem, Chattogram City Corporation Swaship Parishad President Tinku Kumar Bhowmik, District Swaship Joint General Secretary and Matiranga Municipal School and College Principal Md Nurul Islam were the special speakers.
It was also addressed by Shantipur High School Principal Md. Mostafa Kamal, Matiranga Senior Alim Madrasa Principal Md. Salimullah, Tabalchhari Alim Madrasa Principal Maulana Md. Saiful Islam, Gomati BK High School Principal Md. Nurul Huda, and Matiranga Girls’ High School Principal Md. Abul Hashem.
The speakers demanded electrification and hill allowance for the teachers of the hilly areas, along with MPO-listing of Alutila High School, Belchhari High School and Khedachhara Dakhil Madrasa.
In his speech, the chief guest demanded the trial of the murderers of Bangabandhu and majority of his family members and said, “Bangabandhu improved the education system but BNP did irreparable damage to it by closing the Welfare Trust. The Prime Minister revived the Welfare Trust with a massive donation. We demand nationalization of total education system.”
He assured implementation of the hill allowance after talking to the Prime Minister.
