The money greedy husband Mokhlesh Mia (48) did not give up after getting married with the promise of building a happy family after having a daughter. Then even if a son is born, the threat of harassment and divorce for the dowry of two lakh taka increases.
Kamrunnahar (35), daughter of Madhu Mia, a day laborer of Kazihati village of Jangalia union in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj, finally took refuge in the court due to such a situation. The learned judge of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court-3, Jinnat Ara, investigated the incident and directed the Pakundia Upazila Social Service Officer to submit a report by February 4.
According to the source of the case, Mokhlesh, son of Abul Hossain of the same village, married Kamrunnahar, daughter of Madhu Mia, of Kazihati village, Jangalia Union, Pakundia Upazila, on August 24, 2013, with a dowry of Tk 2 lakh and usul (got) of Tk 20,000.
Two children were born during the marriage. The first daughter was sold by her husband Mukhlesh Mia. In this situation, Kamrunnahar’s wife broke down physically and mentally.
Since then, the husband demanded a dowry of Tk 2 lakh. For not being able to pay, the torture continues day after day. Later the people of his father’s house rescued her. Since then, my husband has not given me any sustenance.
Although contacted repeatedly in this regard, accused Mokhlesh Mia’s phone was found switched off.
Pakundia upazila social service officer Harun Or Rashid, who was given the responsibility of investigating the case from the court, said, I have not received the letter from the court yet. I will definitely look into the matter.
