Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan is ruling the box office at the moment. The Atlee directorial released in theatres on September 7 and recorded the highest-ever opening figures in the history of Hindi cinema as it made Rs 75 crore. Now, the film has been in the theatres for over a week and on its ninth day, the Shah Rukh Khan film raked in Rs 21 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk.
This takes Jawan’s domestic nett collection to Rs 410.88 crore in India. Jawan is already holding the third highest-grosser spot in the list of Hindi releases this year. The top spot is held by SRK’s Pathaan, which made Rs 543.05 crore after its release in January, and the second spot is held by Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2 which has made Rs 517.06 crore so far and is still in theatres.
The film’s collections so far are certainly historic as it is outpacing Pathaan in terms of its domestic nett collections. After nine days in the theatres, Pathaan made Rs 364.15 crore, as per Bollywood Hungama, which is Rs 37.73 crore less than what Jawan made in the same time. Jawan’s second weekend will be closely watched because it seems likely that it will cross the Rs 500 crore domestic nett collections mark during this time.
According to Red Chillies Entertainment, Jawan has grossed Rs 735 crore worldwide in nine days of release, and at this rate, the film will easily cross the Rs 1000 mark in its third week.
At the success meeting of Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan spoke about the film and described the film as an “emotion.” He said, “A lot is being said about Jawan, but for us, Jawan is a feeling which every Indian has. Jawan is an emotion. Jawan is an Indian soldier, mother, girl, vigilante, and you have to understand that Jawan many times is very weak, as he is all of us. Jawan is many times wrong, but many many times, he is also very right. Jawan sometimes will live in the darkness, and sometimes Jawan will be the one emanating the light. Every Indian who is upright is Jawan. Honestly, Jawan stands for goodness and love.”
