HSC Examinations Set to Begin Tomorrow

The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations will begin simultaneously across the country tomorrow (Thursday). This year, a total of 12,51,111 candidates are set to take part in the public examination. Among the candidates from 11 education boards, 618,015 are male and 633,096 are female. Under the General Education Board, there are 10,55,398 candidates. Additionally, 86,102 students will participate under the Madrasa Education Board (Alim), and 109,611 under the Technical Education Board. A total of 2,797 examination centres have been set up nationwide, with 293 candidates scheduled to sit for the exam at 8 centres outside the country. This year, 9,314 educational institutions are participating in the examination. The Ministry of Education has announced that all types of coaching centres will remain closed across the country until August 15. Legal action will be taken against any individual or institution that violates this directive. To maintain discipline, the use of any electronic device — including mobile phones — by teachers, students, and staff within 200 yards of the exam centres has been strictly prohibited.

A recent meeting chaired by Education Adviser Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar outlined several important measures to ensure fair and cheating-free exams. Key decisions include strict legal action against individuals involved in spreading rumors about question paper leaks or providing copies. The Bangladesh Army will assist law enforcement agencies during the examination period to maintain security. Candidates must enter the centre at least 30 minutes before the start of the exam. If anyone arrives late, their name, roll number, entry time, and reason must be recorded and reported to the concerned board. In the event of delays due to natural disasters or other unavoidable circumstances, candidates will be given extra time equal to the delay. The Ministry of Education has expressed confidence that the 2025 HSC and equivalent exams will be conducted peacefully and smoothly with support from the government, coordination from relevant agencies, and cooperation from parents and students.

Chairman of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Dhaka Education Board, Professor Dr. Khandokar Ehsanul Kabir, emphasized that strict measures are in place to prevent the spread of rumors and misinformation about question leaks. He stated that all preparations are complete for organizing the exams fairly and securely, and all possible avenues for leaks have been sealed with surveillance from intelligence agencies, law enforcement, and IT experts. He further noted that any rumors about leaked questions will be treated as false and intentionally misleading, and action will be taken against those spreading such content on social media. He advised students to concentrate on their studies instead of chasing rumors. He also urged parents not to crowd around examination centres and to follow health guidelines, stressing the importance of cooperation from all involved.

Professor SM Kamal Uddin Haider, Controller of Examinations at the Dhaka Education Board, confirmed that all preparations have been completed. He mentioned a question complication in the Rajshahi board, which has since been resolved by canceling the question. Alternative question sets are ready, and no disruption is expected.
