Managing the wise has to be wiser: M A Nahiyan

“7th International Business Genius Bangladesh-2022” is going to be held on October 28. Its aim is to make the students of commerce or commercial stream employable from school to higher level. It is organized by Federation of Hospitality Tourism and Event Management (FOHTEM). FOHTEM president M A Nahiyan was confronted about this arrangement in an exclusive interview.

The Daily Tribunal: What is the goal of organizing Business Genius Bangladesh?

M A Nahiyan : Commerce stream students often think that they are less knowledgeable or talented, so they could not get admission in science streams. In many cases, family or relatives also think so. We start from here. We understand them, motivate them by saying that you too are geniuses. Because you manage doctors and engineers by creating various organizations from the responsibility of the director. So you are wiser. Wise people have to be wiser to manage. In that light, our organization is to advance these students.

The Daily Tribunal: Who else is with the Federation of Hospitality Tourism and Event Management (FOHTEM), the organizer of this Business Genius Bangladesh?

M A Nahiyan : This ‘FOHTEM’ is designed to encourage students of business stream for various subjects of hospitality tourism and event management, internship, job etc.

The Daily Tribunal: Is there any kind of involvement of the tourism sector of the government with this arrangement?

M A Nahiyan : It’s a good question. Our last event was also sponsored by the Government Tourism Corporation. Bangladesh Tourism is also helping us by advising us in various ways. They are with us every time.

The Daily Tribunal: Suppose, hotels and motels have made good arrangements for hospitality tourism for tourists, but the transport system in that area is fragile, in that case, will local and foreign tourists come there?

M A Nahiyan : Hotels are now trying to make this matter much easier. Now-a-days many hotels are now doing the pick or drop of tourists. Some hotels also offer pick up or drop of transport as complimentary. We are giving both complimentary to and from many places. Also there are many VVIP guests, for whom such comfortable cars are provided.
We have also contacted the government regarding this issue. The informal communication system of the tourism area should be improved. We are also in touch with the airlines. They also give a good discount to guests on arrival or departure.

The Daily Tribunal: What will be special in this year’s “7th International Business Genius Bangladesh-2022”?

M A Nahiyan : There will be debate competitions, public speaking, skill development training, corporate talk shows with corporate executives from Bangladesh. There will also be a Business Olympiad, which will be held in conjunction with the English Olympiad. There will also be a cooking competition.

Because now many children are interested in tourism and want to become chefs. They will be given a training in this regard first. There will be films and talk shows that we have – these will also be presented. Besides, we will do road shows in schools-colleges-universities before the main event. There they will know about our program and can register and participate in the event.

The Daily Tribunal: Those who pass school or college can no longer study, work or do business due to financial reasons. What are you doing for them?

M A Nahiyan : The government has a scheme, where such students are given free skills training. This training will help them later if they want to work on tourism in the country or abroad.

At the same time, students who want to work in this profession in the future can also learn about the tourism profession through this Business Genius event. One can move forward with clear knowledge about the matter in advance.

The Daily Tribunal: All boys and girls are added here?

M A Nahiyan : Yes, we are encouraging all boys and girls socially, so that they become interested in this matter. Not only commerce students, humanities and science students can also come here.

The Daily Tribunal: Are there foreign hospitality tourism related parties in this event?

M A Nahiyan : Of course, we have invited people related to hospitality tourism from abroad. The guests will also discuss this subject in the context of their country. Also, there will be exchange of experience of our country and foreign countries. Hospitality tourism will be more integrated in the future. Outsiders are unable to physically attend this program. They will also join us virtually.

The Daily Tribunal: What are your future plans?

M A Nahiyan : We want to go abroad with this arrangement. Because in this the talent of our boys and girls involved in this profession will be reflected in foreign countries as well.
