Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that the power of the country belongs to the people, not foreigners. So if you want to be put in power, the people of the country will put you in power. Awami League does not think that foreigners will help to come to power.

He came up with the comments while paying tribute to late actor and freedom fighter Akbar Hossain Khan Dulur (Farooque) at central Shaheed Minar at 12 O’clock on Tuesday.

Obaidul Quader said, actor Farooque was a brave freedom fighter, Bangabandhu loved and liked him very much. He embodied the spirit of liberation war as well as the ideology of Awami League. Later he became a Member of Parliament.

He said, on the question of ideology, Farooque was adamant, firm as a mountain and uncompromising. But in the cruel irony of fate, he could not do anything for his local people due to illness.

Earlier, a tribute was paid to the legendary actor under the banner of Sammilita Sangskritik Jote at Central Shaheed Minar at around 11 am.
