Courtesy meeting held by Australian High Commissioner and State Minister for ICT Division today

Australian High Commissioner H.E. Mr. Jeremy Bruer paid a courtesy call on Honorable State Minister for the ICT Division Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak MP on Sunday, 30 October 2022.

The First Secretary Dr. Sacha Blumen and the Second Secretary Mr. Duncan McCullough from the Australian High Commission in Bangladesh along with the Director of Trade & Investment of Australian Trade and Investment Commission Mr. Mostafizur Rahman was present at this meeting held at the office of the State Minister for ICT located at the ICT Tower in Agargaon, Dhaka.

Besides, Additional Secretary of Planning and Development Wing Dr. Khandoker Azizul Islam, Additional Secretary of ICT Promotion & Research Wing & DG of Digital Security Agency Md. Khairul Amin, The Project Director and Joint Secretary of Enhancing Digital Government & Economy (EDGE) project Dr. Mohammed Mehedi Hassan and many others were there at the meeting.

Education, CyberSecurity and Digital Literacy issues were discussed in detail in the meeting. Besides, the ICT State Minister highlighted different issues related to startup investment and their development including skill development. In the meeting, considering the importance of digital literacy, Australia-Bangladesh expressed interest in working together.

In the meeting, The ICT State Minister Mr. Palak shed light on the different opportunities of Australia-Bangladesh including the startup exchange program. Similarly, the initiative of different training programs for the development of human resources, formation of offshore campus keeping technology in focus, e-marketplace, national job portal, My Gov- different important issues were discussed in this meeting.

After the meeting, the Australian High Commissioner and The ICT State Minister visited the Digital Security Agency, a2i and Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (iDEA) Project of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) under the ICT Division. Meanwhile, different startups of the iDEA project presented their activities to the guests.
