On October 30, a joint raid of RAB-4 and RAB-6 conducted a raid in Bhangageit area under Abhaynagar police station of Jessore district. On the basis of secret information, the team arrested Md Miraj Sheikh (22), the main accused in the sensational Zulekha murder case.
RAB-4 and RAB-6 conducted the raid on the basis of secret information. It is known from the preliminary interrogation of the arrested accused and the details of the incident that the victim Julekha Begum got married to the accused Miraj approximately 3/4 months ago.
After marriage accused Miraj and victim Julekha were living in Dhamrai police station area. The accused was employed at Three Star Brickworks in Kalampur and the victim was employed at a garment shop in the area. After the marriage, the accused used to abuse and beat the victim on several occasions, suspecting the victim without any reason. The victim has also complained to her mother many times about this incident.
After complaining to the mother, the accused became very angry with the victim and their marital discord reached its climax. Based on the source of the dispute, the accused killed the victim on the night of 26/10/2022 at approximately 12:00 hours and escaped by putting a chain on the door from outside the house.
The local people got the news and informed the victim’s family about the incident. Later, the local police recovered the body of the victim in the house of one Shamsul Haque in the area under Dhamrai police station. The incident created a great sensation in the area including print and electronic media.
Md Al-Amin, the elder brother of the victim Julekha, filed a murder case with the Dhamrai police station, accusing an unnamed person along with the accused Miraj. As a result, RAB-4 started shadow investigation to arrest the accused.
Based on the intelligence information, it is known that the accused Miraj is staying in the area under Abhaynagar police station of Jessore district in disguise, due to which a joint raiding team of RAB-4 and RAB-6 was able to arrest the accused Miraj (22) by conducting an operation in the said area. During interrogation by RAB, the arrested accused confessed to killing the victim Julekha. The process of handing over the arrested accused to the concerned police station is under process.
