Rail communication between Khulna and the rest of the country remains suspended since Saturday morning as trees uprooted on the railway line at Alamdanga in Chuadanga due to Nor’westers. According to the locals, rain, thunderstorms with gusty wind occurred for half an hour in Alamdanga on Saturday morning. It caused extensive damage to many houses and crops. The electricity poles were uprooted. The train service has been suspended due to falling trees on the railway line between Alamdanga and Halsa. The passengers of the train have suffered from this.
Alamdanga station master Nazmul Hussain confirmed the matter. He said several trees fell on the railway line between Alamdanga and Halsa during the storm. As a result, Khulna train service with the rest of the country was halted from 5:30 am. Nakshikatha Express and Kopotaksha Express were stranded at Alamdanga station while Benapole Express at Halsa station and Sagardari Express at Poradaha station. Work is underway to remove the trees, Nazmul Hussain said expressing hope that the train movement will be normal soon.
