Land Service Week 2022 has been inaugurated in the district on Sunday which will run till May 28. Deputy Commissioner Atul Sarkar inaugurated the week by releasing balloons, festoons and pigeons on the DC office premises.
After that a colorful rally was brought out and after parading the main roads of the town, ended at the same place. Later, cheques worth Tk 2,58,42,778 for land acquisition in different upazilas of the district were distributed there.
A discussion meeting was held on the occasion at 10:30 am at the DC office conference room. Additional DC (Revenue) Taslima Ali gave a welcome speech in the discussion meeting. Chief guest DC Atul Sarkar said, “Our goal is to ensure comfortable service to the people through digitization. No one should be bothered to get the services from land office.”
He said, “At present all land related services including land development tax, khatian update, receipt of pamphlets and mutations are available online and by post. There was a time when people had to stand in long lines to apply for and pick up tracts. With digitization, we no longer have to stand in line. People are getting the desired services at home. This type of digital service, on the one hand, eliminates the complexities of land and, on the other hand, reduces the pressure of brokers in land offices.”
At that time, he instructed the officials to come to the Union Land Offices to provide services so that the common people are not embarrassed. Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Sumon Ranjan Sarkar, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension Dr Hazrat Ali and Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Abdur Razzak Molla addressed the meeting as the special guests.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Director (Deputy Secretary) of Local Government Department Mohammad Aslam Mollah, Zonal Settlement Officer Atiyar Rahman, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Liton Dhali and other UNOs and assistant land commissioner. Alfadanga Upazila AC (Land) Md. Mohin Uddin, the moderator of the meeting, presented a documentary on digital land service.
