Sixth grader raped in Sunamganj

A sixth grade schoolgirl has been raped in Jagannathpur upazila of Sunamganj. The father of the schoolgirl has filed a case against a autorickshaw driver Sayek Mia at Jagannathpur police station under the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Act.

It was known that a class six student of a local secondary school went to look for his father who was working in a fish farm near his house at 10:30 am on Friday. Sayek Mia, son of Intaj Mia of Barofechi village in the upazila, forcibly took her to a house on the farm and raped her. The schoolgirl’s father filed a case with the Jagannathpur police station alleging rape. The raped schoolgirl was taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for medical examination. Jagannathpur Police Station OC (Investigation) Sushankar Pal said the operation was underway to arrest the accused autorickshaw driver.
