Tk 5cr snake venom recovered in Chattogram

Detectives have arrested three people along with snake venom worth Tk 5 crore from the city’s Double Mooring Police Station area on Saturday afternoon. The arrested are: Ismail alias Moga Vaidya, son of late Hanif of Noakhali District, Md. Joynal Abedin, son of late Bazlur Rahman of Laksam Upazila in Cumilla District and Rupan Chakma Shyamal, son of Puti Chakma of Dighinala Upazila in Khagrachhari District.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) of Chattogram Metropolitan Detective Police Md. Zahirul Islam confirmed the incident. He said, “On the basis of a tip-off, we raided the said area and seized the venom which was kept in an airless glass jar. The smugglers smuggled the banned cobra venom to Bangladesh and tried to earn large sums of money. It is not known from which country this came to Bangladesh. We are investigating the matter.”
