Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim today said the party leaders and workers remain prepared to face any kind of challenge to keep intact the country’s democracy.

“We will have to remain alert about those who killed people in arson attack, destroyed state properties, carried out attacks on minority community,” he told a peace rally at Mirpur-1 intersection.

Dhaka City North AL arranged the rally in protest against BNP’s terrorism and anarchy.

Terming AL as a traditional political party, Nasim said the party’s responsibility is to ensure that all people can live with peace in the country.

“People will live in peace. Our children will go to school in peaceful atmosphere. If anyone tries to carry out arson terrorism here, we will not accept such acts. We are holding the peace rally to this end. This is a peace programme against terrorism,” he said.

About BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s comment that AL got afraid, Nasim said AL leaders and workers are soldiers of Bangabandhu’s ideology and they never bowed down to any evil or communal forces and will not do so in future too.

AL Education Affairs Secretary Shamsun Nahar Chapa, Dhaka North AL General Secretary SM Mannan Kachi and Swechchhasebak League acting President Gazi Mesbaul Hossain Sachchu addressed the rally, among others.
