State Minister for Religion Md. Faridul Haque Khan MP said that in the Juma Khutba, clerics should speak to create public awareness against terrorism and extremism. Under their leadership, terrorism will be eliminated from the country.
Islam never supports extremism. The imams in the 350,000 mosques of this country are our greatest strength. Scholars are the lighthouse of this country. Some groups inside the country are spreading misinformation about religion. To stop this propaganda, the scholar society of the country should play a leading role.
He said these while speaking as the chief guest at the Ulama Mashaikh conference and training workshop on countering terrorism and extremism, women abuse, child marriage and dowry prevention, drug eradication and corruption prevention, organized by Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram Auditorium at 10 am on Tuesday (June 6).
The State Minister for Religion said that the government is implementing various developmental projects for the welfare of scholars. With the aim of proper propagation of Islam, the current government has undertaken a project worth about 9.5 thousand crores to build 564 model mosques in each district upazila. Already 200 model mosques have been inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister.
The Governor of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Foundation and Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Mufti Maulana Ruhul Amin, Director General of the Islamic Foundation Prof. Bashirul Alam, Islamic Foundation Secretary Md. Moniruzzaman, Director Md. Anisuzzaman Sikder among others spoke at the event.
