The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) expelled 16 leaders for life for defying the party decision and contesting the upcoming Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) elections.
This information was provided in a letter signed by Taiful Islam Tipu, Deputy Secretary of BNP on Wednesday. Expulsion leaders are all councilor candidates.
Earlier, Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP had sent a letter signed by Convener Advocate Ershad Ali Isha and Member Secretary Mamun-or-Rashid to the center calling for organizational action against the candidates on Sunday.
The expelled leaders are the former vice president of Rajpara police station committee of city BNP Badiuzzaman Badi, former president of ward number 11 BNP Abu Bakar Kinu, former vice president of Shahmakhdum police station BNP Md Tutul, former deputy general secretary of Shahmakhdum police station BNP Abdus Sobhan Liton, former vice-president of Nagar Jubo Dal Belal Ahmed, former labor affairs secretary of Nagar Jubo Dal Roni Hossain Ruhul, former organizing secretary of Nagar Jubo Dal Nuruzzaman Titu, former general secretary of Ward No 22 BNP Mirza Ripon, former joint convener of Boalia police station (East) Jubo Dal Alif Al Mahmud Luken, former vice-president of Nagar BNP Anwarul Amin Azab and former vice-president of Motihar police station BNP Ashraful Hasan Bachchu.
