A day-long scientific seminar organized by the Association of Humboldt Fellows Bangladesh (AHFB) was held on Saturday at the Centre for Advanced Research in Sciences (CARS) of Dhaka University (DU). Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated this seminar. President of AHFB and Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University Prof Dr Md Imdadul Hoque presided over the inaugural session while Ambassador of Federal Republic of Germany in Bangladesh Mr Achim Troster addressed it as the chief guest. Vice-Chancellor of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Prof Dr Md Shahidur Rashid Bhuiyan addressed the function as special guest. General Secretary of AHFB Prof Dr Md Shamsul Alam gave vote of thanks. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman urged the researchers to conduct fundamental research to develop the socio-economic condition of the country. We have to innovate new technologies through research to make Bangladesh a developed country, he added. The young researchers of the country will be highly benefited by sharing knowledge at this scientific seminar and will have proper guidelines for innovative research, he hoped. German Ambassador Mr Achim Troster stressed the need for undertaking joint collaborative research program and exchanging scientific knowledge between Bangladesh and Germany to attain technological development. He also emphasized on strengthening friendly relationships among the scientists of different countries to establish peace and harmony in the world.
