Baisakhi Mela 2023 is being held in Malaysia on May 13. To make the fair a success, Malaysia Bangladesh Furum Association (MBFA) held a press conference in the capital Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday evening, May 9.
Organized by the Malaysia Bangladesh Forum Association, the Boishakhi Fair will be held from 10 am to 10 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the Capital Kuala Lumpur Craft Complex.
In the continuity of almost an era, MBFA will be open for all. Expatriate Bengalis from different provinces of Malaysia will gather in this New Year festival. Thousands of expatriates will celebrate the Sixteenth Anna Bangaliana on this day by dressing up, dressing up, feasting and chatting.
Even though it is organized on the soil of the diaspora, this day is like the Kuala Lumpur Craft Complex, a piece of red-green Bangladesh. Organizers hope that Bengalis-Bangladeshis will gather in this Boishakhi fair in Malaysia in continuation of last day.
In the main stage at the craft complex, there will be various activities throughout the day, along with interesting cultural events such as drawing competition for children and teenagers, music-dance-poetry, fashion show-memorial-talking.
Along with various local organizations and artists, renowned music artists from Bangladesh also participated. New generation craze Dilshad Nahar Kana, Chirkut’s Pintu Ghosh and international fashion icon Bibi Russell will be present at the Kuala Lumpur Boishakhi Mela.
Organizers consider Malaysia’s Boishakhi Mela to be the biggest New Year’s Eve event outside Bangladesh due to the large number of people gathered and organized. Having been held continuously for almost a century, the Boishakhi Mela in Kuala Lumpur has been taken very seriously by the Malaysian mainstream and public administration.
Every year the main event of MBFA’s Boishakhi Mela is attended by various representatives of the administration including the Malaysian Ministers and High Commissioner of Bangladesh posted in Malaysia along with famous people of Bangladesh.
In the day-long fair, local food stalls, panta hilsa, and local product stalls attract people.
In the press conference, the organizers say that Malaysia Bangladesh Forum Association (MBFA) has organized the fair to highlight the culture of its country abroad.
The organizers are hopeful that foreigners will participate in the Kuala Lumpur Boishakhi Mela this year as well as expatriate Bangladeshis like every year. Malaysia Bangladesh Forum Association has called upon the Bengalis-Bangladeshis living in Malaysia, regardless of party affiliation, to participate in this Bengali life fair on Bengali New Year.
Nisar Quader, president of Malaysia Bangladesh Forum Association, said on behalf of the organizers, wishing everyone from the country and the diaspora a happy Bengali New Year.
President of Malaysia Bangladesh Forum Association Nisar kader General Secretary Anupam Pal, convener of the fair implementation committee Mo: Awal and member secretary Zafar Firoz spoke at the press conference.
Md. Saidur Rahman Faraji, CEO of CBL Money Transfer, Mr. Justin Chia Ming Yong, International Business Development Manager of Sunway Medical Center, Md. Shahidul Islam, Country Manager of US Bangla Airlines spoke among the title sponsors of the fair.
Executive members of Forum Association Md. Masudur Rahman, Mahua Roy and Shahidul Islam were present at the press conference.
